The power of regular check-ins: Helping you life live intentionally
/In today's fast-paced world, it's easy to become caught up in constant busyness, the expectations of others, and for your dreams to get pushed aside. Even with a commitment to living well, these challenges can distract us from living well. And that’s why integrating regular check-ins into your routine is essential.
The significance of pausing and reflecting
Allowing time to pause, breathe, and reset is a key strategy when it comes to intentional living. This practice not only fosters self-awareness but is a catalyst for personal growth. By reflecting on what you’re thinking, feeling and doing, you can consciously and confidently create the life you want to live.
Establishing a check-in rhythm
Developing a consistent rhythm for self-reflection is important, otherwise it’s likely to become a “when you remember to” situation or when there’s time (and let’s be honest, sometimes that means it’s never going to happen).
Here are five recommended frequencies for checking in:
Annually: Assess long-term goals and overarching life direction.
Quarterly: Evaluate progress over 3 months and adjust your plans as needed.
Monthly: Reflect on what’s been happening and where you’re at, and reset your plans for the next month.
Weekly: Monitor how you’re going with actions and identify the challenges you’re facing and what you need.
Daily: Brief reflections to check in with your intention and ensure you’re aligned with your priorities and goals.
Tools like the Live Well Life Planner and quarterly workbooks offer structured prompts to help with this. Additionally, journaling can be useful in exploring your dreams, understanding what you’re thinking and feeling, and identifying areas that require attention.
Approaches to reflection
Reflection can be done on your own or with support from someone like me, a life coach.
Partnering with a life coach is like working with a personal trainer but for your life. You get support, encouragement and can learn new strategies, tips and tools to help you live well.
Personalised coaching options
For those new to life coaching, there are a range of options for how we can work together, including:
One-time session: Use the session to specifically focus on an issue, challenge or opportunity.
Monthly or Quarterly Sessions: Ongoing support to help you create change, achieve your goals or whatever it is we’ve agreed to focus on.
Half or Full-Day Vision & Planning Workshops: These are amazing opportunities to focus on YOU and the life you want to be living. They’re a mix of heartfelt desire, practical planning and action-taking, and a good dose of mindset work.
Depending on what would be most useful to you, I might also suggest a bespoke program.
To explore how personalised coaching can help you, get in touch. I’ll ask you a few questions, and if it seems like we might be a good fit to work together, we’ll have a conversation by phone or Zoom.
Remember, regular check-ins are a proactive step toward living well. By committing to this practice, you set yourself up for a more intentional and fulfilling life.
