About coaching & the sessions

Whether we’re about to start working together for the first time or we’ve been working together for a while, this information will help you get the most out of our sessions together.

What is coaching?

We’ve probably already talked about what coaching is but I thought it’d be useful to provide some information you can refer to. It also includes some frequently asked questions. To read more, click here.

Our responsibilities

The results you gain through our work together will depend on how you show up. It’s a common misconception that a coach can somehow (as if by magic) transform your life overnight. That’s not true. We each play a role in this important work, to find out more, click here.

Starting questions

Before our first session, I’ll ask you to work through the “Starting Questions”. These questions are designed to help you focus your thinking on what you want to gain from our work together. Download the form here.

Session preparation and follow-up

What you get out of our sessions will depend on how you prepare for them. I have three recommendations that will help you get the most out of our time together:

  1. Prior to the session work through the “Session Preparation” form. You don’t need to send me your responses ahead of our session - we’ll talk about where you’re at and what you’d like to focus on at the start of our time together. Download the form here.

  2. Allow 10-15 mins before the session to get yourself a cuppa, make sure you’ve got your journal or a notebook and a pen, settle in somewhere comfy, and turn off any distractions (like the sound on your phone - or better yet, put your phone out of sight).

  3. Be sure to set aside some time after the session to review and reflect on what we discussed, this will help you to integrate the work we’ve done together. You might want to write notes about your thoughts and feelings, and to map out the actions you’ll take.

Have a think about what else might help you prepare for the session. Here are some examples:

  • Meditation or gentle movement to help you calm your mind and settle in for our time together.

  • Listen to calming or uplifting music.

  • Objects like candles, crystals, coloured pens/felts, paper, or whatever is right for you.
